Family Weekend is designed to provide families with opportunities to connect with their students and make lasting memories. Join your students for family-friendly activities, engage in meaningful conversations, and take advantage of opportunities to experience all that PLNU has to offer!
Whether you live in San Diego or are traveling from afar, we encourage all PLNU families to attend this fun-filled weekend, and enjoy time with other parents, grandparents, and families.

Registration Information
Adults – $25.00
PLNU Staff or Faculty – FREE*
PLNU Students – FREE*
Teens – $25.00
Children (4-12) – $10.00
Please register all guests, including your PLNU student.
*Students, Staff, and Faculty must be registered in order to attend the President’s Breakfast. Children 3 and under do not require registration.
Need to add guests to an existing registration? Please register your additional guests, then email familyweekend@pointloma.edu to have them linked to your existing registration.

Check-in with the Parent & Family Connection team to grab your Family Weekend welcome packet that includes your name badge and President’s Breakfast tickets (if attending).Your badge will grant you access to our featured events and provide a special discount at the Bookstore!
Ryan Coffee Bar | 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Enjoy a cup of coffee as you check-in or stroll through the block party and take in the ocean view that makes Loma so iconic.
Chapel | 9:45 am - 10:30 am
Brown Chapel & Ryan Deck
Join us for worship and an opportunity to be in the word with your student during one of our special Branch Out Chapels. Meet your student at Brown Chapel for Studying the Scriptures OR on Ryan Deck for Praying the Scriptures.
Loma Block Party! | 10:30 am - 1:00 pm

After checking in, be sure to visit our Loma Block Party for some family fun including: family photos, a scavenger hunt, event sign ups, and so much more!

Stop into the Bookstore for kid-friendly activities including games and coloring stations. Be sure to flash your Family Weekend name badge to get 10% off your purchase of any PLNU swag!
Classroom Visits* | 10:30 am - 5:30 pm

No need to take notes, there won’t be a quiz at the end. Join your student during one of their Friday classes.
*To sit in on classes, please have your student request approval from their professor(s) ahead of your arrival.
Faithful Families Luncheon* | 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

This special luncheon honors our PLNU Faithful Families who have supported PLNU students through their generosity.

Historical Walking Tour | 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
President’s Dining Room
Enjoy a historical walking tour of the campus as you learn more about the interesting origin of PLNU's campus and its first occupants. Guided tour led by PLNU friend, former PLNU parent, and local resident, Beth Zedaker.
Dinner in the Caf | 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join your student for dinner at one of our on campus dining locations or check out one of their favorite local spots off campus.

Cunningham Lawn
After dinner, join us on Cunningham Lawn for churros and live music. Bring a cozy sweater or blanket, build your own custom churro, and enjoy music sets by PLNU students.

President’s Breakfast | 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Greek Amphitheatre
Join us for a picnic-style breakfast with President Fulcher and special guests! Breakfast tickets are included in registration, but required for all guests including PLNU students.
Please be sure to register your entire party. Gates open at 8:30 am with programming beginning at 9:00 am.
Prayer Walk | Immediately following the President’s Breakfast
Greek Amphitheatre | North Entrance
Join other PLNU parents, families, and students on this guided prayer walk. As you make your way across campus there will be opportunities to pray over our students, faculty, staff and the university. Please meet at the north entrance to the Greek immediately following the conclusion of the President’s Breakfast.

Pickleball | 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Tennis Courts
Join the PLNU Pickleball Club for a fun pickup game anytime between 11:00 and 3:00 pm! Come enjoy this wildly popular game that incorporates tennis, badminton, and ping pong as you get to know other students and families. All skill levels are welcome to join as we will have courts dedicated to lessons, fun play, and competitive play. A release of liability form must be completed by all participants and can be filled out here.
Surf Camp | 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
La Jolla Shores | 8200 Camino Del Oro La Jolla, 92037
Join PLNU parents Darren and Kelley Klassen and the Torrey Pines Church Surf Ministry down at the shores for an opportunity to learn to surf from skilled instructors. Equipment will be provided or you’re welcome to bring your own and join in the fun. Camp will be set up in the sand just south of lifeguard tower 33. A release of liability form must be completed by all participants and can be filled out here.
Who can attend Family Weekend?
We define family as our students’ unit of support and this event is designed with that in mind. So, whether you’re a parent/guardian, sibling, grandparent, extended family member, friend, etc., you are welcome!
My student isn’t a freshman, can we still attend?
Yes! Students and their families are welcomed and encouraged to attend Family Weekend every year they are able to.
When can I register?
Online registration August 27 - October 6. Day of registration will be available at the Info Booth during Check-in on Friday and Saturday’s.
Do I need to register my PLNU student?
Yes, please use the “PLNU student” ticket to register your student. This grants them complimentary access* to any Family Weekend events and activities.

How do I add a guest to my registration?
Please register your additional guests, then email familyweekend@pointloma.edu to have them linked to your existing registration.
How do I make other changes to my registration?
Please email familyweekend@pointloma.edu or call (619) 849-2512 and one of our team members will assist you with other changes.
Where should I stay for Family Weekend?
PLNU is pleased to offer a specially reduced rate at a variety of Bartell Hotels in the San Diego area. Rates are based on availability and all appropriate taxes and hotel fees apply. To guarantee a special rate, please book early and ask for the "PLNU rate" at the time the reservation is made. In return, Bartell will donate a percentage of the total room cost to PLNU's Loma Fund benefiting student scholarships. Book online and find additional information about PLNU's partnership with Bartell hotels.

Does PLNU provide off campus shuttle service for the event?
We currently do not have off campus shuttle service, but rather recommend taking advantage of San Diego’s many rideshare options.

Parking will be available across campus with complimentary parking attendants available in our Commuter and Fermanian parking structures during high traffic times.
