What is Academic Coaching?
Academic coaching teaches you positive learning habits that help you achieve your academic goals. Your academic coach can assist you with time management, assignment tracking, study skills, stress relief, understanding yourself as a learner, and so much more! The goal of PLNU’s academic coaching program is to empower learners with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
Here’s how it works:
- After completing a self-assessment, you meet with a coach to review your current study habits and academic goals.
- You and your coach determine what you are doing that works well and what areas you need help with.
- You receive tools and information and set up a plan that will help you accomplish your goals.

What to Expect
At your first session with an academic coach, you will review your self-assessment and have a conversation about your learning style, academic strengths, and identify areas where you could use improvement. Then you and your coach will meet regularly to work on forming new habits that will help you with your academic performance. You can expect to have one-on-one time with a trusted, supportive mentor who is available to help.
