PLNU won several awards in this year's 2021 Journalism Awards from Society of Professional Journalists, San Diego Pro Chapter.

Multimedia Journalism & International Studies major Lainie Alfaro was awarded the 2021 Agnes Diggs Scholarship.
Journalism alumnus Doug Brunk won first place for the Nondaily Reporting and Writing Division - Health Story. His award winning story was "Undeterred during COVID-19, hospital chaplains transform delivery of spiritual care," MDedge Internal Medicine.
Journalism alumnus Abby Hamblin won first place for the Audio Divison - Podcast for "Hello Gen Z," created in partnership with Kristy Totten, Matthew Hall, and the The San Diego Union-Tribune's video and graphics teams.
