Alumni

Class of 1949 Scholarship 
Funded by the Class of 1949 and completed during the scholarship luncheon in 2000. Recipients should be approved by PLNU to study abroad. Awarding Department: Study Abroad Office.

Class of 1951/Dr. W.T. Purkiser Endowed Scholarship
Established by the Class of 1951 to recognize the significant contribution Dr. W.T. Purkiser made to the lives of students as a professor, administrator, and president of Pasadena College/Point Loma College/PLNU. Recipients shall be a junior or senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above, be preparing for a career in full-time Christian ministry, and be positively involved in PLNU's campus life — adhering to the PLNU code of personal conduct by demonstrating consistent Christian character. Awarding Department: School of Theology & Christian Ministry.

Class of 1952/Dr. Paul T. Culbertson Endowed Scholarship
Established by the Class of 1952 to honor the late Dr. Paul T. Culbertson. Recipient shall be a declared major in the psychology department with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above. Top candidates shall be recommended by the faculty of the Department of Psychology.

Class of 1960/James and Alice Jackson Speech and Debate Scholarship
Established by the Class of 1960 to recognize the significant contribution James and Alice Jackson made to the lives of students at Pasadena College/PLNU. Students must be an active member of the Speech and Debate Team and demonstrate skills and proficiency in public speaking. Awarding Department: Communication Studies.

Class of 1966/ W. Shelburne and Lois Brown Endowed Scholarship
Established by the Class of 1966 to honor W. Shelburne and Lois Brown, this scholarship provides awards to sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a cumulative GPA of 2.80 or above. Financial need may be considered, but is not required and preference may be given to applicants with a relationship to the Class of 1966.

Class of 1977 Endowed Scholarship
Established by the Class of 1977, this scholarship provides awards to sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a cumulative GPA of 2.80 or above. Financial need may be considered, but is not required.

Class of 1979/Janet Benefiel Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established by the Class of 1979 to honor Janet Benefiel, this scholarship provides awards to sophomores, juniors, or seniors. Half of the awards shall be for undergraduate students with a major in sociology, social work, health and nutrition, or child development. The other half of the awards shall be for undergraduate students with a major in any of the university's academic disciplines. Financial need may be considered, but is not required.

Class of 1984 Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Class of 1984 for students who have a class standing of sophomore or greater and who have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater.

Class of 1996 Dr. Gerard Reed Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established for students who have a class standing of sophomore or greater and who have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or greater.

Donald and Caroline Cotten & Family Summer Research Endowment Fund (not a scholarship)
Established by Donald and Caroline Cotten, awards from this operational research endowment shall be used to pay a stipend for an undergraduate student or students performing summer research under the direction of a faculty member within the biology and chemistry departments, at the discretion of the Research Associates board, or its designee(s), acting on the recommendation(s) of the chairs of the biology and chemistry departments. Additionally, funds from this operational research endowment may be used to support the research efforts (including stipends) of biology and chemistry department faculty members who are directing student research.

Music Alumni Fund
Established by music alumni and friends, provides annual scholarships for outstanding music students selected by the music faculty. This scholarship may be awarded to a junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.00. Awarding Department: Music.

Nursing Alumni/Norma Brown Endowed Scholarship
Established by the PLNU Nursing Alumni Auxiliary to honor Norma Brown. Recipient shall be enrolled undergrad in the nursing program with a cumulative GPA of 2.70 or above. Top candidates shall be recommended by the PLNU School of Nursing.

Pasadena College/PLNU Alumni Scholarship
Since 1993, the Pasadena/PLNU Alumni Association has awarded scholarship funds to needy students at PLNU. Alumni scholarships are funded through private donations from alumni and friends of PLNU, and from funds raised through the Alumni House.

Alumni in Business Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Business Alumni for students who major in the Fermanian School of Business, with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above.

The Alumni Association endowed scholarships are for students who:

  • Have completed 57 units (including 24 units completed at PLNU)
  • Have a GPA of 3.30 or higher and have financial need (based on the FAFSA)
  • Are involved in college, community, and/or church activities

Art & Design

Allison Carley Dahm Memorial Art and Design Endowed Scholarship
The Dahm family launched this scholarship to celebrate the life of Allison Dahm, to honor the Lord who created her in His image, and to assist in the education of art and design students at PLNU. Awarded to full-time juniors or seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Testimony of a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ required.

Gregory J. Sumich Memorial Scholarship
Established by Mathew and Judith Sumich to celebrate the life of their son, Gregory, and to financially encourage students on their journeys to independence and responsibility. Awarded to men 20 – 25 years of age, majoring in fine or commercial arts, public relations, or marketing.

J.M. Metcalf Endowed Art Scholarship
Established by J.M. Metcalf. Selection is made by a committee chosen by the chair of the art department.

Kendrick Visual Art Endowed Scholarships
Established by E. G. and Randy Kendrick. These scholarships will be awarded to three to five students annually who are visual art majors of promise of any class standing, including an incoming student.

Martha Rebecca Rodeheaver Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Established by gifts from the family of Martha Rebecca Rodeheaver. The scholarship is awarded to students whose major is religion, art, or sociology.

Patrick Rory Muldoon Memorial Scholarship
Rory had a tremendous experience as a student at PLNU studying graphic design and was very affected by the warmth of the faculty/staff and quality of the education.  It allowed him to mature as a person both academically and spiritually in ways that exceeded the family's expectations. After his unexpected death, this scholarship was established in gratitude to the PLNU community. This scholarship is intended for students who are serious about their art as a profession.

Stuart Christian Taylor - Low Memorial Endowed Scholarship
In honor of his life filled with a dedication to learning, growth, and creativity, this scholarship is established in Christian's name for the Department of Art & Design at Point Loma Nazarene University. This enduring endowment will help provide a path for others with similar interests and passions as Christian to reach their goals and dreams with knowledge, study, and creativity in the arts.

Athletics

1975 Crusader Baseball Team Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the 1975 Crusaders Baseball team as a means of providing assistance to serious-minded and spiritually-sensitive students. Recipient shall be an eligible baseball player and full-time student with a minimum GPA of 3.00 and in good standing with the University.

Alonzo and Fay Davis Memorial Athletic Scholarship
Established by gifts from family and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Davis. Provides scholarships in men’s and women’s basketball.

Carroll B. Land and Barbara Land Endowed Athletic Scholarship Fund
Established to assist students desiring a career in sports management or sports administration. The recipient shall be an active member of one of the men's or women's varsity sports teams and shall be a sophomore or higher in good academic standing. Applicants shall be recommended by each varsity sport coach and finally selected by the Athletic Director.

Cartwright/Foster Endowed Basketball Scholarship
Established to honor two outstanding PLNU coaches — Chalmer "Champ" Cartwright and Ben Foster — in recognition of their significant contributions to intercollegiate athletics and to maintaining PLNU's historic tradition of success. Provides opportunities for worthy athletes. Awards will be made to male and/or female varsity basketball player(s) as determined by the award committee.

Crosby and Ruth V. Panoyan Sports Scholarship Fund
Established to assist Nazarene students participating in PLNU Intercollegiate Athletics.

Crume Women's Basketball and Volleyball Endowed Scholarship
Great joy and gratitude for God's sufficiency inspired Joyce P. Crume to dedicate this scholarship for women's basketball and volleyball. Recipient(s) must be female(s) involved with PLNU women's basketball or women's volleyball.

Hugh and Maxine McNeilly Athletic Scholarship
Established by the estate of Hugh and Maxine McNeilly to benefit outstanding student athletes at PLNU for years to come. Selection of recipient(s) shall be made under the authority of the athletics director.

Jack and Mary Goodall Endowed Scholarship
Established to benefit the Fermanian School of Business as well as the men’s basketball program.

Jennifer Hallen Memorial Scholarship
Established by John and Tammy Hallen in memory of their daughter, Jennifer. The applicant must be a member of the PLNU volleyball team, have financial need, and exhibit Christian character.

Joshua and Kathryn (Hilbelink) Sanderson Endowed Scholarship
Established in honor of former players, Josh (08) and Kati (08), to encourage and support members of the men's or women's basketball team in their faith and play on and off the court. Preference shall be extended to point guards, but is not required.

Larry Hester Endowed Baseball Scholarship
This scholarship in honor of Larry Hester, former student athlete and outstanding All-American baseball player of Pasadena College, now PLNU, is established by Larry and Jackie Hester. They faithfully embraced the university, the importance of Christian higher education, and the relevant importance of athletic participation at the collegiate level. In recognition of the significant role of intercollegiate athletics in the lives of students, they have established this endowed scholarship. Recipient shall be an eligible baseball player and full-time student with a minimum GPA of 3.00. The recipient shall exhibit loyal team membership, athletic prowess, an ideal representation of PLNU, and a life in harmony with the Christian principals of the university.

Larry Swartz Scholarship
Established to assist students who demonstrate financial need and declare tennis as a major sport. Students apply with the varsity tennis coach.

W. Shelburne Brown Athletic Endowment
Established by the board of directors of Crusader Sports Associates. The endowment provides money for athletic scholarships. Dr. Brown served as president of the university from 1964 to 1978.

Biology – Chemistry

Dale and Susan Shellhamer Endowed Chemistry Undergraduate Research Fund
Endowed by Dale and Susan Shellhamer. This fund has been established as follows: (1) annual distributions can be used for student stipends, chemicals and supplies; 2) recipient(s) of student stipends shall be selected by the Department of Chemistry chair to do undergraduate research; 3) in the event that other funds are available to support undergraduate student research, earnings from this endowment can be used to help compensate faculty who are directing research; and 4) should sufficient funds be available for undergraduate research from other sources, annual distributions from this endowment can be allowed to accumulate in a separate restricted project account for the purchase of research equipment or for student research in subsequent years.

David McKee Student Research Scholarship Fund in Chemistry
Awarded annually to qualified students engaged in research in chemistry. This scholarship was endowed by Evangeline McKee and friends in memory of her late husband, Dr. David McKee.

Donald and Caroline Cotten and Family Education Associates Endowed Scholarship
Established by Donald and Caroline Cotten, this scholarship assists undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Mathematical Information and Computer Sciences, Biology, or Chemistry. Nominations shall be submitted by the Education Associates Scholarship Committee.

Donald and Caroline Cotten and Family Research Associates Endowed Scholarship
Established by Donald and Caroline Cotten, this scholarship assists undergraduate students majoring in biology, chemistry, or biology – chemistry. Nominations shall be submitted by the Research Associates Board/Scholarship Committee.

Donald and Caroline Cotten and Family Summer Research Endowment Fund (not a scholarship)

Dr. A.L. and Ruth Braswell Science Student Internship Endowment Fund (not a scholarship)
Established by A.L. and Ruth Braswell, this endowed fund shall provide annual support to subsidize internships for students in the biology department, chemistry department, physics and engineering department, Department of Mathematical, Information & Computer Sciences, and the School of Nursing.

Eugene Klusmann Endowed Sciences Scholarship
Established by Eugene Klusmann, this scholarship is awarded to students who major in any of the Sciences, and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. 

Glenn D. Keys Endowed Biology Scholarship
Established by Peggy Keys, this scholarship assists undergraduate junior and senior students majoring in the biological sciences with demonstrated financial need and a GPA of 3.0 or higher to assist with tuition.

Harold J. Wadley Family Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is given in honor of Hal Wadley who was grateful for his pre-med education at Pasadena College. He appreciated the support of his professors and the lifelong friendships he attained during those years. He carried a desire to support future students that would receive the education and support that gave him the opportunity to receive his medical degree. Established to assist undergraduate students with a major in Chemistry who demonstrate a financial need.

Helping Hands Medical Scholarship
Established by Bill and Jo Ann Taylor, this scholarship provides assistance to students pursuing a major that leads to a career in a medical profession (pre-medicine, pre-nursing, pre-pharmacy, etc.). Recipient shall have earned a minimum GPA of 3.00. Preference shall be given to sophomores, juniors, or seniors.

Kimberly Michel Endowed Scholarship for Biological Sciences
Established by Lawrence and Deborah Michel and their family, this scholarship assists biological science majors enrolled in a pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-optometry, or pre-veterinary course of study.

Leland and Esther Smoot Scholarships
Endowed by Mrs. Leland Smoot in memory of her late husband and former university trustee. Three funds have been established: (1) scholarships for qualified students pursuing nursing; (2) scholarships for students in biology or chemistry; and (3) scholarships for physics, mathematics, and computer science students.

Marcie Ann Weintraub Memorial Scholarship
Established by Tom and Peggy Soejoto in memory of Tom’s sister, Marcie. Recipients must have an expressed interest in the field of chemistry and/or life sciences and have a minimum GPA of 3.00.

Mudge Family Endowed Scholarship
Established by Bradley and Leanne Mudge, this scholarship is awarded to students who major in the Department of Biology or Department of Chemistry, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and have a sophomore standing or higher. Financial aid may be considered.

Nathan Hake STEM Endowed Scholarship
Established to honor Nathan Hake who applied and was accepted to PLNU to begin studies in Physics the fall of 2014. Unfortunately, due to Nathan’s health, he was never able to attend PLNU. The Lord called him home in April of 2021 at the age of 25.  Nathan was a very intelligent, kind, and giving person with keen wits, a fun-loving nature – who loved a good prank. Nathan lives on in the hearts of those who knew him and the lives he touched. The purpose is to assist undergraduate students enrolled in any of the Sciences, Technology (Computer), Engineering, and Mathematics programs who demonstrate financial need and who may be living with a chronic illness.

Paul Hamilton Family Endowed Scholarship
Established by Ellen Hamilton in memory of her husband, Paul. Recipient(s) shall be (a) nursing or biology – chemistry major with the intention of preparing for pre-med and must demonstrate financial need.

Raines Family Endowed Science Scholarship
The Raines family have had numerous family members involved in the Sciences at PLNU and believe strongly in its importance.  This Family Scholarship is a way for them to give back and make the Science programs at PLNU even stronger. Established to assist students who are majoring in any of the Biology, Chemistry, or Kinesiology programs, show demonstrated financial need, and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Research Associates Endowed Scholarship
Established by Research Associates of PLNU. This scholarship is awarded to students majoring in biology and/or chemistry.

Vic Heasley Research Endowment Fund (not a scholarship)
Prompted by the generous donations of an individual and with the subsequent support of others, this endowment fund was established to honor long-serving PLNU chemistry professor, Vic Heasley. Awards from this operational research endowment shall be used to benefit a student or students performing research under the direction of a faculty member within the chemistry department, at the discretion of the chemistry department chair, in collaboration with the chemistry department faculty. Additionally, funds may be used to support the research efforts (including stipends) of a chemistry department faculty member who is directing student research.

William H. Trowbridge Educational Trust
Endowed by the estate of the late William Trowbridge to assist worthy students in biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering.

Business Office

Almgren Heritage Scholarship
Established in memory of George Almgren. Provides assistance to students who have a Nazarene background. Award is made by the Business Office.

Fermanian School of Business

Adams Family Scholarship Endowment
For sophomore, junior, and senior students majoring in business. Demonstrated financial need and GPA of 3.00 or above required.

Byron L. Crume Endowed Scholarship
Established by Joyce Crume in honor of her husband, Byron L. Crume. Student must be studying for the ministry or business. Applications accepted through Student Financial Services.

David Latter, Jr. Business Scholarship
Established by David and Dorothy Latter in honor of their son, David Latter, Jr., this scholarship is for junior and senior students with financial need who are pursuing a major sponsored by the Fermanian School of Business.

Dorothy Dykman Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of Dr. Dorothy Dykman, who always encouraged her students to greatness. Selection to be made by the Fermanian School of Business. Recipient must maintain a 2.60 GPA or better and show financial need. Preference to a declared major or minor in the Fermanian School of Business.

Edward M. Nagel Endowment Scholarship Fund
Established in honor of Edward M. Nagel, founder and co-owner of Oroweat Whole Grain Breads. The fund was established to support students in their pursuit of higher education. Recipient(s) will have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and be pursuing a business-related degree or pre-law program of study. Recipient(s) shall demonstrate financial need and will receive a copy of Nagel's biography or will read it via the foundation's website.

Elizabeth Anne Wetzel Scholarship
Awarded to students who have declared interest in international studies and are selected by the faculty of the Fermanian School of Business.

Elmer L. and Ruby W. Ward Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of Elmer and Ruby Ward. Provides scholarships for upper division business majors.

Gary and Deborah Smee Endowed Scholarship
Provides assistance to students from Central California who are members of a Nazarene Church in the Central California District. Recipients shall be Business majors with a 3.0 GPA or above.

George Latter Jr. Business Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship provides assistance to junior, and senior students with a GPA of 3.0 or above, majoring in a course of study in the Fermanian School of Business. Recipients shall have demonstrated financial need.

Jack and Mary Goodall Endowed Scholarship
Established to benefit the Fermanian School of Business and the men’s basketball program.

James and Frances Warren Endowed Scholarship
Established to provide assistance and encouragement to students who demonstrate financial need with a declared major or minor in the Fermanian School of Business. This is a renewable scholarship for full-time students as long as a minimum GPA of 3.00 is maintained.

Jason D. and Kirschten Huntley Endowed Scholarship
Established by Jason and Kirschten Huntley to provide scholarships benefiting undergrads majoring within the Fermanian School of Business. Recipient shall have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. Preference shall be given to a student/athlete in the baseball program with financial need, as determined by Student Financial Services.

J.C. Wooton Scholarship Fund
Established by the estate of James C. Wooton to fund a scholarship for the Fermanian School of Business. This scholarship will assist young men and women in developing their careers in the business sector, thereby continuing the Wooton's legacy. Recipients shall be business majors with a GPA of 3.00 or higher. Preference given to Nazarene students.

John D. Vance Business Scholarship
Instituted by John and Oneta Vance as an overflow of their lives of faith to provide educational opportunities for others. Awarded to business majors demonstrating financial need.

John Nersesian Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Applicants must be enrolled in the MBA program and have completed 12 units or be enrolled as an undergraduate student in the Fermanian School of Business with sophomore standing or higher. Preference will be given to MBA students. Applicants must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher.

Kenneth and Carol Sonnevik Endowed Scholarship
Established by Kenneth and Carol Sonnevik, this scholarship provides assistance to sophomore, junior, and senior students with a GPA of 3.0 or above majoring in a course of study in the Fermanian School of Business.

Opal Guthrie Memorial Scholarship
Established from the estate of Opal Guthrie. The awards are to be restricted to students who have declared majors in marketing and communication.

Richard B. Hill Accounting Scholarship
Established by Richard B. Hill to provide scholarships benefiting accounting majors with a desire to become certified public accountants.

Richard E. Matlock, CPA Endowed Accounting Scholarship
Established by Richard E. Matlock, this scholarship will be awarded to students who meet the following criteria: a student who is enrolled as an accounting major, is an accounting student of promise, and has demonstrated spiritual leadership and financial need. Final selection will be made by the dean of the Fermanian School of Business upon receiving recommendations from accounting professors. Preference will be given to students pursuing certified public accountant (CPA) certification.

Samuel Price Scott and Florence E. Scott Endowment Fund
Provides scholarships for outstanding students in the Fermanian School of Business and provides funding for seminars sponsored and presented by the Fermanian School of Business.

Center for Pastoral Leadership

C.S. and Marjorie Cowles Endowed Scholarship for Pastoral Ministry
Established to assist students planning on a career in Pastoral Ministry. Students shall have demonstrated financial need and a minimum GPA of 3.0. Students shall be enrolled in the School of Theology and Christian Ministry.  First consideration will be given to a female applicant.

Forrest Cosby Stone Endowed Scholarship
Established by family and friends to honor Forrest Stone, a 1966 graduate, on his 60th birthday. Provides reimbursement for pastors from the Church of the Nazarene's Southwest Region who attend professional educational seminars offered by the Center for Pastoral Leadership.

Robert and Evelyn Sutton Pastor/Clergy Development Fund (not a scholarship)
Established from the estate of Robert and Evelyn Sutton, this endowment fund provides financial assistance to pastors attending training and personal development programs offered through the Center for Pastoral Leadership, including conferences, seminars, forums, and training events. Qualified expenses include registration fees, lodging, and travel expenses the participant is expected to cover out of his/her personal finances.

Robert and Evelyn Sutton Regional Youth Ministry Endowment Fund (not a scholarship)
Established from the estate of Robert and Evelyn Sutton, this endowment fund provides financial funding for the Center for Pastoral Leadership to employ a regional youth pastor who shall provide vision, leadership, and coordination for youth ministry through districts and churches in the Southwest Region. Additionally, the regional youth pastor shall assist in the equipping of on-campus PLNU students sensing a call to youth ministry.

Stuart and Ruth MacMillan Pastoral Leadership Scholarship
Forever grateful for the rich spiritual instruction she received at Pasadena College, Ruth Irene (Trembly) MacMillan and her husband, Stuart, established this scholarship to equip ministers who will preach the Word of God.

Communication Studies

Heather L. Michel Media Communications Endowed Scholarship
Established by Lawrence and Deborah Michel and their family, this scholarship provides assistance to students with a declared major in media communications and an interest in television or film production.

James and Alice Jackson Speech and Debate Scholarship
Established by the Class of 1960 to recognize the significant contribution James and Alice Jackson made to the lives of students at Pasadena College/PLNU. Students must be an active member of the Speech and Debate Team and demonstrate skills and proficiency in public speaking.

Opal Guthrie Memorial Scholarship
Established from the estate of Opal Guthrie. The awards are to be restricted to students who have declared majors in marketing or communications.

Wilburn W. Bateman Jr. Memorial Scholarship
Established by Helen Bateman in memory of her husband. The candidate shall have a declared major in communication studies or psychology.

Education and Teaching

Alfred Henry Stagner and Erma Marie Stagner/Classen Scholarship
Established by the children of Alfred Henry Stagner and Erma Marie Stagner. Student must be a junior or senior who has a declared major in education. Must demonstrate financial need and have a minimum GPA of 3.00. Also assists students who are actively pursuing the completion of graduate degrees in education and demonstrate financial need.

Alice Regan Floyd and Joshua William Floyd Endowed Memorial Scholarship Fund
Provides assistance to students with financial needs, with preference given to students pursuing careers in nursing or teacher education.

Barbara Mahaffie Secondary Education Endowed Scholarship
Established by Barbara Mahaffie in remembrance of scholarship support during her years at Pasadena College and in remembrance of her parents, who lovingly supported her at all levels of her educational pursuits. Recipients shall be full-time students enrolled in the teacher education program.

Beryl and Hazel Dillman Scholarship
Established by Beryl Dillman in honor of his wife Hazel. Recipient can be teaching in a Christian school and/or completing a teaching credential. Can be a graduate or undergraduate and shall meet the credential minimums.

Beverly B. Foster Scholarship
Established by Beverly B. Foster, this scholarship provides assistance to graduate students in education with an emphasis in educational leadership. Minimum GPA of 3.50 required.

CalRTA Student-Teacher Scholarship
The members CalRTA continue to show their support for California’s youth and current teachers by sponsoring scholarships and teacher grants.

Carlton L. Burlison M.D. Memorial Scholarship

Dr. Lee and Sandy Jenkins Education Scholarship
This scholarship is for the development and support of students who are entering the field of education. Recipients must be a senior education major with a 3.0 GPA who demonstrates financial need.

George and Alice Harris Endowed Scholarship
Dedicated to the memory of George and Alice Harris, hard workers who loved education, this scholarship is a legacy for PLNU students entering the field of primary education. Award to be granted upon receiving a teaching credential from PLNU and is to be used to purchase first-year teaching supplies.

George and Catherine Pomeroy Primary Education Scholarship
George and Catherine Pomeroy established this scholarship in grateful response to the blessings of educational opportunities they experienced. Recipients must have a GPA of at least 3.0 and be preparing to teach in elementary public schools.

Gladys Nation Tate Endowed Scholarship
Established in honor of Gladys Nation Tate by her sister Linda Nation. This scholarship is for the encouragement and support of students who are entering the field of education. Recipients must be junior or senior teacher education majors who demonstrate financial need.

Hart Education Associates/EDUCAP Scholarship
Funded by members and friends of Education Associates to recognize the generosity of educator and former president of EDUCAP, Chuck Hart and his wife Arlene, head of the Ontario Chapter of the Point Loma Women's Auxiliary. Recipients to be recommended by Education Associates.

Jessie McCain Memorial Scholarship
Established in honor of Jessie McCain. This scholarship provides funds for students demonstrating financial need who are education majors showing promise of being good teachers.

John and Leona Alden Scholarship
This scholarship was established through the estate of John and Leona Alden, who were both teachers and alumni of Pasadena College. It is awarded to education majors.

Josephine W. Switzer Memorial Loan Fund
Established in memory of Josephine Switzer through gifts made by family and friends. Funds shall be given to persons preparing for a career in teaching at either the elementary or secondary school level.

Lewis R. and Barbara R. Thompson Endowed Scholarship
Created by the Thompson family to commemorate Lewis and Barbara Thompson's 77 years of combined service to Pasadena College and PLNU. Recipients must be pursuing a degree in nursing or education leading to a career teaching at the secondary level. Church of the Nazarene membership and participation in local church taken into consideration.

Karen Krug Endowed Scholarship
The purpose of the scholarship is to aid students in the School of Education who have compassionate hearts for those who have challenges to overcome and are committed to be productive members of society. Preference will be given to students from the foster care system or students who plan to work in low-income communities.

Karen Sumner Walchle Endowed Scholarship
Karen Sumner Walchle aspired to be a teacher that emulated the life of Jesus, the greatest teacher of all. This scholarship is to honor her for her outstanding career and life and to continue the tradition through PLNU of training up teachers with this calling and vocation. The purpose is to assist students enrolled in the School of Education. 

Leona E. Doudy Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to students from the state of Hawaii who attend a Church of the Nazarene and are preparing for ministry or to become classroom teachers.

L. Paul and Martha Gresham Scholarship
Established by a former student in honor of L. Paul and Martha Gresham. Recipient(s) shall be (a) junior or senior with a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or above majoring in history/political science; literature, journalism, writing, and languages; or education. Preference shall be given (but is not required) to students with demonstrated financial need, students intending to pursue a graduate degree in their field of study, and/or students of Native American descent.

Moulton Educational Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Kimber Moulton, Jr. to be awarded by the scholarship committee of EDUCAP. Recipients must be full-time students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and shall be preparing to be an elementary teacher. Financial need shall be considered. Recipients will be selected by the EDUCAP Scholarship Committee.

Ravi Patel Education Associates/EDUCAP Endowed Scholarship
Established by Judy Patel, this scholarship provides financial assistance to students who are currently teaching and are pursuing either a credential or a master's degree.

Reginald and Ruth Berry Memorial Scholarship

Established from the estate of Della Mendenhall. Student must be a declared international affairs major with a concentration in peace studies.

Floyd and Florence E. Turner Memorial Scholarship
Established through the estate of Florence Turner. Student must be a full-time political science major, sophomore or higher at the time of application. Must take a minimum of four classes in political science in the current year and plan to attend graduate school.

L. Paul and Martha Gresham Scholarship
Established by a former student in honor of L. Paul and Martha Gresham. Recipient(s) shall be (a) junior or senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above majoring in history/political science; literature, journalism, writing, and languages; or education. Ron Kirkemo Honors Scholarship
Dr. Ron Kirkemo, an alumnus of PLNU, returned to his alma mater to create a political science major for the campus. He is grateful for the students and alumni who endowed this scholarship to attract honor students into the history and political science program and public careers. Candidates shall have a declared major in the Department of History & Political Science; shall have taken or are taking at least two political science courses within their freshman and sophomore years; and shall show a preference or desire toward issues of national security, diplomacy, or government intelligence, particularly as a career path.

Ron Kirkemo Public Service Leadership Scholarship
Established by Dr. Ron Kirkemo, this scholarship shall be awarded to any major in the Department of History & Political Science after the student (in good standing) has completed the second semester of their sophomore year. Recipient(s) must display evidence of a desire for a career in public service and the potential to be a successful student and professional (as determined by the professor(s) who teach(es) Introduction to Political Science). Additionally, the recipient(s) must take at least one political science course each semester of his/her sophomore year and become familiar with the national competitive scholarships relevant to his/her major and consider preparing for competition of a national competitive scholarship during his/her junior or senior year.

Sam Mayhugh and Ron Kirkemo Foreign Affairs Endowed Scholarship
Established by Dr. Samuel Mayhugh and Dr. Ron Kirkemo, this scholarship provides awards to sophomore or junior declared political science majors. Recipients shall be enrolled in at least one political science course per semester of their award year and shall demonstrate an interest in a career in U.S. foreign affairs, in areas such as diplomacy or intelligence. Nominations shall be made by faculty of the political science department.

The Humble Thinker Endowed Scholarship
Established by an anonymous group of family and friends in gratitude for a Christ-centered community that encourages the liberal arts heritage of a tradition, context, and thinking socially. The Humble Thinker is inspired by Dr. Rick Kennedy's award-winning article, "Educating Bees: Humility as a Craft in Classical and Christian Liberal Arts." Candidates shall be full-time juniors or seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.00 who are committed to historically conscious learning as a lifelong mission. Applicants will submit a short reflection on how studying the past has challenged them and how increasing one's thoughtfulness of history could impact the life of the worldwide church.

International Studies

Class of 1949 Scholarship
Funded by the Class of 1949 and completed during the scholarship luncheon in 2000. Recipients should be approved by PLNU to study abroad.

David and Sharon Strawn and Kathryn and Michael McConnell Endowed Scholarship
Established by the Strawn and McConnell families to recognize David Strawn, who during his tenure as Dean of Arts and Sciences, founded the PLNU Study Abroad program, and Kathryn McConnell who, during her career as language professor and Dean of Arts and Sciences, strongly supported the program. Both spent numerous years reviewing programs, advising students, and making on-site visits to foreign programs to ensure excellent experiences for study abroad students. It is the donors’ desire that the scholarship help to provide firsthand overseas opportunities for undergraduate students so they may gain a “global perspective” and more fully understand “ethnic and cultural diversity” as referred to in the University Mission Statement.

Cartwright/Foster Endowed Basketball Scholarship
Established to honor two outstanding PLNU coaches — Chalmer "Champ" Cartwright and Ben Foster — in recognition of their significant contributions to intercollegiate athletics and to maintaining PLNU's historic tradition of success. Provides opportunities for worthy athletes. Awards will be made to male and/or female varsity basketball player(s) as determined by the award committee.

Crume Women's Basketball and Volleyball Endowed Scholarship
Great joy and gratitude for God's sufficiency inspired Joyce P. Crume to dedicate this scholarship for women's basketball and volleyball. Recipient(s) must be female(s) involved with PLNU women's basketball or women's volleyball.

Hugh and Maxine McNeilly Athletic Scholarship
Established by the estate of Hugh and Maxine McNeilly to benefit outstanding student athletes at PLNU for years to come. Selection of recipient(s) shall be made under the authority of the athletics director.

James G. Crakes and Carroll B. Land Endowed Scholarship
Launched by kinesiology department alumni, faculty, students, and other benefactors of the study of human movement at PLNU in honor of Dr. James G. Crakes and Dr. Carroll B. Land, who have given so much as educators to PLNU's students. Nominee(s) shall be a declared major within the Department of Kinesiology.

Janelle (Sanderson) and Philip Sparling Endowed Scholarship
Established for students in the kinesiology department with a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or above. Preference shall be extended to students preparing for a career in athletic training or physical therapy, but is not required. Students shall exhibit Christ-like character and a desire to serve God and others through their intended health-related profession, as determined by department faculty.

Jennifer Hallen Memorial Scholarship
Established by John and Tammy Hallen in memory of their daughter, Jennifer. The applicant must be a member of the PLNU volleyball team, have financial need, and exhibit Christian character.

Larry Swartz Scholarship
Established to assist students who demonstrate financial need and declare tennis as a major sport. Students apply with the varsity tennis coach.

Provides scholarship aid for students who have declared Spanish as a major.

Fordyce Bennett Literature Scholarship
This scholarship, established in honor of Dr. Fordyce Bennett, provides funds for junior and senior students with a GPA of 3.00 or greater who are members of the Church of the Nazarene. Preference is given to outstanding literature students planning to attend conferences, workshops, or programs that will develop them as student scholars.

Kris Golsan Hoyt Scholarship
Established by Gordon and Wanda Golsan in memory of their daughter, Kris Golsan Hoyt, who filled the hollow spaces in people's lives. Kris loved to be in the role of serving others and she loved writing. In all settings, she believed in the importance of treating others and the world with respect and she thought it important to ask the hard questions while learning. Recipients shall be writing, literature, or journalism majors who reflect the lifestyle characteristics exhibited in the life of Kris Golsan Hoyt.

Larry Finger Memorial Scholarship
The Department of Literature, Journalism, Writing, & Languages — with the help of family, friends, and students of their late colleague — establishes this endowed scholarship in memory of Dr. Larry Finger for the benefit of deserving students. The recipient will be a senior literature major with a minimum GPA of 3.50.

Established by Hadley Wood to honor her father, Richard Hesse, by investing in the learning of others. Recipients shall be seniors with a declared major in the Department of Literature, Journalism, Writing, & Languages, with a concentration in literature.

The Blunt Scholar: The Riley-Fitch-McKinney Endowed Scholarship for Independent Journalism
This scholarship was established through the contributions of friends, alumni, and faculty of the Department of Literature, Journalism, Writing, & Languages (LJWL) to support intellectually curious, well-read, socially conscious, and gifted students who write and publish their works with opinions and beliefs that challenge the status quo. Recipients shall be students with a GPA of 3.50 or greater in the preceding quarter and may be of any major, with preference given to journalism and literature majors or minors. Interested applicants may contact the LJWL department regarding the application process (application, published work, personal essay, and recommendations).

Recipients are selected by the faculty of the Department of Mathematical, Information & Computer Sciences. This scholarship may be awarded to a junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.00.

Bill and Edna Hobbs Endowed Mathematics Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Bill and Edna Hobbs to support students majoring in mathematics. Scholarship recipients will be full-time upper division students majoring in mathematics, demonstrating financial need, and having a GPA in mathematics courses of 3.50 or higher.

David Hull Nickerson Memorial Scholarship
Established by Dr. Nickerson's friends and family to assist students majoring in the field of mathematics or computer science. Recipients shall be juniors or seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

This scholarship is awarded to a Nazarene student preparing for church music (organ) participation in a Nazarene church.

Daniel Nelson Endowed Band Conducting Scholarship
Established with heartfelt joy by Corbett Wright in honor of Dr. Daniel Nelson's years of service to PLNU. Recipient(s) to be junior or senior music major(s).

David L. Garven Music Scholarship
Established in memory of David L. Garven, a gifted pianist. The scholarship may be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior majoring in music with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Doni Jo Heinberger Vocal Scholarship
Established to assist sophomore, junior, or senior vocal performance students with a heart for service. Student shall have demonstrated financial need. Determination to be made by the Department of Music.

Doris Titterington Piano Endowed Scholarship
Established to honor Doris Titterington, a gifted classical pianist and a dedicated Christian. Recipient shall be a piano major in good standing.

Edward (Bud) Hussong and Ila Stoner Hussong Memorial Scholarship
Established by Dr. and Mrs. Robert Hodges in memory of her mother and brother. Student must be majoring in music or vocal performance or have an expressed interest in pursuing a course of study in instrumental performance (trombone) or vocal performance. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need.

Ethridge Vocal Scholarship
Chuck and Christina Ethridge, with hearts grateful for the blessings God has lavished on them, endowed the Ethridge vocal scholarship for junior or senior music majors with a concentration in voice, regardless of need. Determination to be made by the Department of Music.

George and Catherine Pomeroy Music Scholarship
Established by Catherine Pomeroy as an opportunity for students to develop their music interests as a career or for future performance. Recipients shall be juniors or seniors who are preparing for a career in music education or performance.

Gerald F. Berglund Endowed Music Scholarship
Created by family and friends of music teacher, chorus master, and church music director Gerald Berglund, this award is meant to cultivate Nazarene church musicians and soloists. GPA of 3.0 is required; recipients must be full-time music majors or students from other disciplines showing promise as soloists or choir directors. Auditions at discretion of music faculty.

John and Carolyn Hodel Music Ministry Endowed Scholarship
Created by John Hodel to honor the memory of his wife, Carolyn, who was planning to be an adjunct professor of Music. This scholarship is for students who major in music, plan to pursue a career in music ministry, and have a GPA of at least 3.0.

Keith and Betty Pagan Music Scholarship
Given annually to the outstanding music major with at least a 3.0 GPA as selected by the music faculty.

M.A. Merriman and Atha D. Merriman Memorial Scholarship

Music Alumni Fund
Established by music alumni and friends, provides annual scholarships for outstanding music students selected by the music faculty. This scholarship may be awarded to a junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Myron L. Tweed and Pauline E. Tweed Endowed Scholarship
Established through private donations in honor of Myron L. Tweed. Student is to be selected by chair of the music department and have a declared church music concentration.

Pearl and Forrest McKinley Instrumental Music Endowment
Established by Pearl and Forrest McKinley. Can be used for equipment or instruments for the music department and can be awarded as a scholarship to a student who demonstrates financial need.

Philomene T. Liesen Endowed Scholarship
Established through an estate gift from Philomene T. Liesen, this scholarship benefits students who are declared music majors with financial need, as determined by Student Financial Services. Candidates shall be recommended by faculty of the music department and annual scholarship award(s) shall not exceed $5,000.

Raymond H. and Phyllis J. Smart Endowed Music Scholarship
Established by the estate of Phyllis J. Smart in memory of Raymond and Phyllis Smart. Recipient shall have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and shall be selected by faculty of the music department. Demonstrated financial need may be considered, but is not a requirement.

Reverend Speros Demetrios and Elizabeth Hord Athans Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established to honor Reverend Speros Demetrios and Elizabeth Hord Athans. Recipient shall be intending to pursue a career in missions, ministry, or music/music ministry. Recipient may be pursuing a degree in any PLNU academic program as long as the above criteria is met. (Scholarship awards are not limited to religion or music-related majors.) Student must be in good academic standing and shall have financial need, as determined by Student Financial Services, which will also select the student.

Roselle Lovelace Mokhtarian Memorial Scholarship
Established by Hector Mokhtarian in honor of his late wife of 30 years, Roselle Lovelace Mokhtarian. They were both Pasadena College graduates. Preference shall be to a music major preparing for a vocation in music ministry with demonstrated financial need.

Walter J. Hildie Memorial Music Student Internship Endowment Fund (not a scholarship)
Established by A.L. and Ruth Braswell in memory of Ruth's father. Endowment shall provide annual support to subsidize internships for music majors within the music department.

Established to assist nursing students working toward a healthcare provider degree, i.e., nurse, social worker, or therapist.

Bettie Rhae and Harry Miles Davis Scholarship
Established through the Davis Estate. Awarded to nursing students with leadership qualities, motivation toward a nursing career, and financial need.

Bookman Scholarships in Nursing 
Established by Anthony Ross to honor the hard work and dedication of Irwin Herman, Jack Grace, and John Carlson, the founders of Bookman, Inc. The Bookman scholarships benefit nursing students who demonstrate financial need.

D. Briggs Family Endowed Nursing Scholarship

Established by Nadine Lusk Wade to emphasize her belief in the importance of qualified and technologically proficient nurses. Student recipients must be a nursing major who are serious about completing a degree in nursing.

Dr. Deana Raley Noble Public Health Nursing Scholarship
Established by Barclay David Noble. This scholarship is for the encouragement and support of students who demonstrate a love for service in Community/Public Health. Recipients will demonstrate financial need. Recipients will also have outstanding character and academic standing.

D. and M. Nicholson Endowed Nursing Scholarship for Graduate Psychiatric Nursing
Established by Donald and Mildred Nicholson to make a significant contribution to those suffering from mental illness. Recipient shall be enrolled in the Masters of Science in Nursing program following the clinical nurse specialist focus in mental health, or be a student who will teach in an academic setting in the area of mental health nursing.

Frieda Frank Nursing Scholarship
Established through the estate of Frieda Frank. Student must be accepted into the nursing program and be in good standing as determined by the chair of the nursing department. Student must be a Nazarene.

George E. and Wanda H. Almgren Scholarship
Provides financial assistance to students who are in the nursing program, have a 3.00 GPA, and are members in good standing of the Church of the Nazarene.

Geraldine Wright Endowed Nursing Scholarship
Established to honor the late Geraldine (Jerry) B. Wright. Geraldine grew up on a farm during the Great Depression, learning to work hard and waste little. After attending college, she decided to enroll in a nursing school, where her career as a nurse expanded to nearly six decades after graduating. Her love of God, family, nursing, and education were the things that defined her most. For this reason, this scholarship was created to bless the students at PLNU pursuing a career in nursing. Ginger Walker Endowed Memorial scholarship Fund
PLNU lost a beloved student in Ginger Walker when she passed away at the age of 22. Ginger was a Junior in the nursing department, loved by all her classmates and teachers. This endowed memorial scholarship fund was created to remember Ginger and her heart for giving so graciously to others.

Established by a faculty member in honor of Laura Mae Douglass. Awarded to serious-minded and spiritually sensitive students in nursing.

Lelande and Aletah A. Quick Endowed Nursing Scholarship
Established by a gift from the Quick Trust, this scholarship honors Lelande and Aletah Quick, who were always proud of people who worked hard, persevered through odds, and respected the privilege of being an American. Aletah was a hard-working nurse from a young age until shortly after she married the love of her life, Lelande, at the age of 38. Recipients must have declared nursing as a major and have a 3.50 or higher GPA. Financial need will be a consideration and recipients shall be selected by the faculty of the School of Nursing.

Endowed by Mrs. Leland Smoot in memory of her late husband and former university trustee. The Lupe Anguiano and Michael Rodriguez Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Established by the family of Lupe Anguiano in her memory to develop in students a vocation as well as a ministry in caring for and supporting the needs of individuals and families who are experiencing an end-of-life crisis. Students must take academic coursework and have training and clinical practicum or internship in hospice care, ministry, and grief counseling, or social work to hospice patients and their families.

This scholarship is alumnus Claude Routh's legacy to physics majors and the university that spawned his career in aeronautics and electronics. Recipients must demonstrate financial need.

Harold W. Potter, Jr. Endowed Scholarship
Harold came to Point Loma as a freshman in the fall of 1975 with high hopes and great expectations, just eight weeks after losing his father. As a history major, he eagerly became involved in student government during his freshman year and ultimately was elected student body president his senior year. While at Point Loma, he also met his wife of 39 years, another history major, Patricia Young, from the class of 1980. As part of his enduring legacy, the endowed scholarship established in his honor shall provide assistance for pre-law students at Point Loma toward both their educational and professional goals.

This scholarship was established as a means to provide funds to serious minded and spiritually sensitive students studying psychology.

Established by the Class of 1952 to honor the late Dr. Paul T. Culbertson. Recipient shall be a declared major in the psychology department with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above. Top candidates shall be recommended by the faculty of the psychology department.

Eugene Mallory Endowed Scholarship
Established through private donations in honor of Dr. Mallory. Recipient to be selected by the faculty of the Department of Psychology.

Provides scholarships for upper division psychology majors.

Ross and Sharon Irwin Endowed Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to students with a declared major in the psychology department with a GPA of 3.10 or above. Candidates shall be a senior at the time of scholarship disbursement and demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Services. Recipients shall be selected by the department chair, in collaboration with the psychology department faculty.

Wilbur W. Bateman Jr. Memorial Scholarship
Established by Helen Bateman in memory of her husband. The candidate shall have a declared major in communication or psychology.

Bob and Mary Irvine Child and Adolescent Development Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Janice Mosher, through the estate of her parents, Bob and Mary Irvine, in their memory. Recipient shall be entering his or her junior or senior year, have a personal relationship with the Lord, and exhibit Christ-like character. Scholarship candidates shall be nominated upon the recommendations of the Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Family Sciences upon receiving recommendations from Child and Adolescent Development professors and shall have a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above. The Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Family Sciences may request a written statement of the candidate's academic goals after graduation as well as a written statement as to why he or she should be considered for the scholarship award.

DeCristofaro-Rogers Endowed Scholarship
Established by Susan DeCristofaro-Rogers and John Rogers. Provides scholarships for juniors or seniors majoring in Child and Adolescent Development who plan to teach in pre-school or elementary grades. Applicant must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Preference will be given to applicants who have exhibited passions for working with children with exceptional abilities.

Doctors Kenneth and Verna Frey Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established by Dr. Verna Frey in memory of her dear husband, Kenneth, both fervent believers in challenging their sociology students to impact the world through an apparent and gentle love for Christ. The two served PLNU (Pasadena College was Verna's alma mater) through their loving teaching — which initiated a desire to start a scholarship for future PLNU generations so they can continue their mission to impact secular society with the healing love of Jesus Christ. This scholarship is to be awarded with first preference to sociology/social work majors, secondly to religion majors, and finally to any needy student.

George and Lois Reed Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in honor of George and Lois Reed. Students must be concentrating in criminal justice and have a GPA of 2.50 or better.

Harold E. Young Endowed Scholarship
Supported by family and friends to perpetuate Dr. Young’s love for the university. Awards are made to full-time students with a GPA of 3.00, upper division sociology majors, and members of a Nazarene church.

Helping Hands Scholarship

Mary Dajko was a neighbor of PLNU who left her entire estate to the university. This scholarship is for students who are active in the LoveWorks short-term mission program.

Provides assistance to full-time students who are visually impaired and have a minimum GPA of 2.50. Financial need will also be a consideration. Awarded by the student development office.

Mendell L. and Lewis R. Thompson Endowed Scholarship for Public Safety
Established by Mendell and Lewis Thompson to bring attention to, honor, and show support for the Department of Public Safety. Recipients shall maintain a minimum 2.50 GPA and be employed by PLNU Public Safety.

Bill Draper Endowed Scholarship
Created to honor the memory of Dr. Bill Draper, president of Point Loma Nazarene College from 1979 to 1983. This scholarship provides an opportunity for Nazarene young people to develop academically on a Christian college campus.

Binkley Family Endowed Scholarship
Established by Rev. John Garner Binkley in honor of his parents, Rev. William Harold Binkley and Emma Garner Binkley. Recipients shall be a junior or senior with a GPA of 3.00 or above who are children of pastors with demonstrated financial need who excel in academics, leadership, and service to the university and greater community.

Bob and Linda Brower Endowed Scholarship
To honor the impact of Bob and Linda Brower upon thousands of students and for their long-standing service and commitment to the mission of Point Loma Nazarene University the Board of Trustees established a scholarship endowment in their honor. This scholarship serves as a living legacy to both Bob and Linda as remarkable leaders whose passion for students will leave an enduring imprint on our world. Recipients will be Juniors or Seniors with a 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need.

Established to honor the memory of Byron Crume, his love for others, and his obedience to God's commandment to help those in need. Recipients may be studying for the ministry or business.

Cecil Rhodes Curtis and Elizabeth Rupp Curtis Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is established for the encouragement and support of men and women desiring higher education in a Christian environment. The fund is non-restrictive as to major. Average students, as well as gifted students, may qualify. Financial need will be considered. Preference is given to students whose parents are missionaries or in the pastorate.

Chester and Inez Robinson Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in the names of Chester D. and Inez (Cooper) Robinson to help young people acquire a Christian education. Recipients shall have maintained a GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Class of 1966 W. Shelburne and Lois Brown Endowed Scholarship
Established by the Class of 1966 to honor W. Shelburne and Lois Brown, this scholarship provides awards to sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a cumulative GPA of 2.80 or above. Financial need may be considered, but is not required, and preference may be given to applicants with a relationship to the Class of 1966.

Clem and Jean Brown Endowed Missions Scholarship
Established by Clem and Jean Brown, this scholarship provides aid to students who attend Nazarene churches and are preparing for a life of missionary service. Recipients shall be full-time students with a GPA of 3.00 or higher. Awards may be used for tuition, room and board, or costs related to attending seminars or faith-based retreats.

Clifton Endowed Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established in honor of Captain Dale R. Simonson and in memory of Beatrice Vallow Simonson through funding from their daughter and son-in-law, Gladys and Glen Clifton. Awarded to full-time students with a GPA of 2.80 or higher. Preference given to students majoring in music, education, or business.

Established by the estate of Grace Duncan Cleveland, this scholarship is awarded to students earning a 3.00 GPA or higher during the previous academic year. Financial need will be a consideration.

Harry and Katherine Wiese Memorial Scholarship
Endowed by family and friends, this scholarship provides assistance to students of Chinese and Filipino descent attending PLNU. Priority is given to students coming from Mainland China, Taiwan, or the Philippines.

Henry and Esther Klages Endowed Scholarship
Established through the estate of Henry and Esther Klages, this scholarship provides aid to students selected by Student Financial Services.

H.E. and Rebecca Jones Endowed Scholarship
Established by Rebecca Jones and honoring her late husband, Hubert (H.E.) Jones, this scholarship provides aid to undergraduate students majoring in any area of full-time study. Recipient shall demonstrate an authentic commitment to his or her Christian faith and be in good academic standing. Preference shall be given to students with a cumulative GPA between 2.00 and 3.00.

H. Orton Wiley Endowed Scholarship
Established from the trust of Alice Poston, daughter of H. Orton Wiley, this scholarship provides financial assistance to PLNU students, regardless of major. Financial need must be present.

Hector E. Salinas Family Endowed Latino/Hispanic Scholarship
This scholarship was established to assist students of any major, who are of Latino/Hispanic heritage. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and must demonstrate need as confirmed by the University's Office of Financial Aid.

Herman and Laura Wolf Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established by the family of Herman and Laura Wolf and the estate of Laura Wolf, this scholarship provides financial assistance to committed Christian students. Preference given to students preparing for a life of Christian service.

Howard and Adda Farmer Memorial Scholarship
Established by Howard and Adda Farmer, this scholarship is not restricted to a particular department. Applicants should apply through the financial aid office.

Ismael and Esther Amaya Scholarship
This scholarship was established to assist students who are willing to serve in Latin America after graduation. A letter of recommendation is required from their local pastor and district superintendent.

Joe and Estelle Wright Endowed Scholarship for Hawaii Students
This scholarship was established for students who declare Hawaii as their primary state of residence. Preference will be given to students who have a parent serving in a ministry role as their primary occupation. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.

John and Mildred Schmidt Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established from the estate of John and Mildred Schmidt, this scholarship provides financial assistance to students committed to their faith who are pursuing careers as educators, regardless of major. Recipients shall have a current GPA of 3.00 or higher and shall have demonstrated financial need.

Kathryn Lynn Robb Scholarship
Established by Flora Boettcher in honor of her granddaughter, Kathryn Lynn Robb, a PLNU graduate. This scholarship is the family's way of expressing gratitude to the university for the excellent education Kathy received and the compassion and love shown to her. Recipients shall have physical disabilities and may use the funds for tuition, housing, or books.

Lawrence and Mildred Schauer Memorial Scholarship
Established by Helen and Stanley Sherry in memory of her parents, Lawrence and Mildred Schauer. Recipients must demonstrate financial need.

Established by the estate of Leona E. Doudy, this scholarship is awarded to students who are from the state of Hawaii, attend a Church of the Nazarene, and are preparing for ministry or to become classroom teachers.

Established by Leona Webber, this scholarship is awarded to students with demonstrated financial need who are active members of the Church of the Nazarene.

Lighthouse Endowed Scholarship
Established by the Find Us Faithful Foundation, this is a need-based scholarship for traditional undergraduate students. Recipients shall have a 3.00 GPA or higher and have demonstrated financial need. Students participating in intercollegiate athletics are not eligible for this award. Preference is given to Nazarene students.

Lillie Mae Sullivan Scholarship
Established from the estate of Vernon F. and Jean L. Sullivan, this scholarship provides financial aid to PLNU students who are members of the Church of the Nazarene and have demonstrated financial need.

Marilla A. and Earl C. Salisbury Endowed Scholarship
Established in honor of Marilla A. and Earl C. Salisbury, devoted supporters of PLNU. Non-restrictive as to majors, with preference given to students preparing for a career in teacher education and for participants in track and field programs.

Provides scholarships to students preparing for full-time Christian ministry.

Michael McConnell Endowed Biology Undergraduate Research Fund
Dr. Michael McConnell is the very best representative of Point Loma science. As a graduate of the program, he was inspired by his mentors and modeling that, has spent his entire career dedicated to building up the biology and chemistry departments. Mike has given the full measure of his professional energy, tirelessly promoting quality science at Point Loma. This scholarship will keep Dr. McConnell’s memory alive for all those who follow in his footsteps. The purpose of this endowment fund is to support summer research in the Biology Department.

Established by Myrtle Herrick to provide financial assistance for students who want a Christian education and have demonstrated unusual financial need. Preference given to children of missionary parents.

Established by Orville and Helen Purdy, this scholarship is open to students with demonstrated financial need, regardless of major.

Pittam Missionary Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Elsie I. Pittam in memory of her husband, Bob. Recipient(s) shall be preparing for missionary service in the Church of the Nazarene and shall have demonstrated financial need.

Purkiser Family Scholarship
Established through the family trust of Dr. W.T. Purkiser. Recipient(s) must demonstrate financial need.

Rachel Girton Thayer and Ruth Irene Girton Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is established for the encouragement and support of women desiring higher education in a Christian environment. Applicant shall be a female student who maintains a 2.3 GPA or higher, with demonstrated financial need. First preference shall be given to students who have been in the Navy or are in the Navy ROTC program. Preference is also given to students who work a minimum of 10 hours per week in the Federal Work Study or a similar government program.

Ralph C. Wynkoop Endowed Scholarship
Established by Ralph and Violet Fellows, this scholarship provides financial assistance to full-time students in good standing, sophomore or higher, with demonstrated financial need. Rebecca Rose Scharn Endowed Scholarship
Becky, was a graduate of the Class of ’53 and was a devoted mother, teacher, musician and pastor’s wife. Subsequent generations of her family have blessed the Pasadena and PLNU campus.  It is the hope that with this scholarship, students will be able to contribute to the creative and redemptive work of God. The purpose is to assist any undergraduate student who has demonstrated financial need. 

Redding International Student Scholarship
Established from the Redding Family Trust. Recipient must be a born-again Christian with an expressed desire to impact the world for Christ and must demonstrate financial need.

Reese and Ellen Verner Endowed Scholarship
Established from the estate of Reese and Ellen Verner, this scholarship provides aid to juniors or seniors with a 3.00 GPA or higher in their major field of study.

Reverend Speros Demetrios and Elizabeth Hord Athans Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established to honor Reverend Speros Demetrios and Elizabeth Hord Athans. Recipient shall be intending to pursue a career in missions, ministry, or music/music ministry. Recipient may be pursuing a degree in any PLNU academic program as long as the above criteria is met. (Scholarship awards are not limited to religion or music-related majors.) Student must be in good academic standing and shall have financial need, as determined by Student Financial Services, which will select the recipient.

Rev. Vernon E. and Ruth L. Thomas Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in loving memory of Rev. Vernon E. and Ruth L. Thomas, by their children. This scholarship is open to any PLNU student in good academic standing.

Richard W. Cherry Memorial Scholarship
Established by Maytie Cherry in memory of her husband, Richard. Recipient shall have maintained a GPA of 3.00 or higher, shall be actively involved in service projects and student ministry, and shall be active in a Church of the Nazarene in the Anaheim or Southern California districts.

Robert and Evelyn Sutton Children of Nazarene Clergy Endowed Scholarship
Established from the estate of Robert and Evelyn Sutton, this scholarship provides financial aid to PLNU students who are enrolled as undergraduates or graduates and are children of Nazarene clergy serving in full-time ministry. Scholarship recipients shall maintain satisfactory scholastic standing.

Roland and Dorothy Hansen Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is awarded to students with a membership in the Nazarene church and demonstrated financial need.

Ron Lush, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by friends and family in memory of Ron Lush, Sr., this scholarship is awarded to full-time students who demonstrate financial need and understanding of the commitment to the concepts of leadership and lay ministry.

Ronald Schmidt Memorial Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in honor of Ronald Schmidt. Applicants shall respond to a paper written by him. Applicants may be enrolled in any major and shall have a minimum GPA of 2.75. Preference shall be given to applicants who are Colorado residents and/or whose parents or grandparents were engaged in education or ministry.

Ross and Sharon Irwin Endowed Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to students with a declared major in the psychology department with a GPA of 3.10 or above. Candidates shall be a senior at the time of scholarship disbursement and demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Services. Recipients shall be selected by the department chair, in collaboration with the psychology department faculty.

Russo Family Endowed Scholarship for Anaheim District Church of the Nazarene
This scholarship was established by the Russo family trust. Recipients shall be a member of a Nazarene church within the Anaheim District Church of the Nazarene, with preference given to students who are members of the Garden Grove Church of the Nazarene.

Ruth and Carolyn Downey Endowed Scholarship
Established by Ruth (Downey) Mellert and Carolyn Downey. Recipient(s) shall be an undergraduate or graduate female student with demonstrated financial need.

Sacramento District Nazarene Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established to assist students who are members of the Church of the Nazarene from the Sacramento District, who have a clear GPA of 3.00 or higher, and who are continuing students who will be a sophomore, junior, or senior during the awarding year.

Samuel and Gladys Mallicoat Endowed Scholarship
Initiated with funding from the estate of Sam and Gladys Mallicoat, this scholarship recognizes the value of an education at a Christian college. The Mallicoats were devoted Nazarenes whose three children all graduated from Pasadena College (PLNU) and taught in public schools. The scholarship is open to all students with a GPA of 3.00 or higher.

Sara Beideman Memorial Scholarship
Established by Kim Schaeffer and his sisters, Diane Fair and Cathy Hedegard, in memory of their Aunt Sara, who always encouraged her pupils to get a "good college education." Recipient shall be a female, first-generation undergraduate student committed to achieving and sustaining a full-time professional career over the course of her adult life, notwithstanding time she may dedicate to roles as a spouse, parent, or caregiver. Special consideration shall be given to applicants meeting the preceding criteria whose mothers are deceased.

Southeast Asian Student Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Mike and Merlynn Fitzpatrick to encourage students from Mien, Hmong, Thailand, Laos, Burma, Cambodia, Vietnam or other areas in Southeast Asia to come to a top quality Christian institution of higher learning. Recipients shall express commitment to share their faith with others locally and globally through their intended profession and shall have demonstrated financial need.

Steve & Bobbi Seelig Family Endowed Scholarship for Children of Clergy
This scholarship was established to assist students of any major, of any Christian denomination, who have a parent that is licensed or ordained as clergy by any Christian denomination and is currently serving in full-time Christian ministry for or within a sponsoring Christian organization. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and must be a sophomore, junior, or senior during the year of awarding.

The Humble Thinker Endowed Scholarship
Established by an anonymous group of family and friends in gratitude for a Christ-centered community that encourages the liberal arts heritage of a tradition, context, and thinking socially. The Humble Thinker is inspired by Dr. Rick Kennedy's award-winning article, "Educating Bees: Humility as a Craft in Classical and Christian Liberal Arts." Candidates shall be a full-time junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.00 and committed to historically conscious learning as a lifelong mission. Applicants will submit a short reflection on how studying the past has challenged them and how increasing one's thoughtfulness of history could impact the life of the worldwide church.

Tom and Becky Michaelson Endowed Scholarship
Established by Tom and Becky Michaelson, this scholarship provides aid to students whose parents are in full-time ministry for the Church of the Nazarene. Recipients shall be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a GPA of 2.50 or higher.

True Family Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is established to award to students who maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher. The students may also demonstrate financial need, but this is not a requirement.

Victoria V. Soudaros Endowed Scholarship
The scholarship extends the spirit of kindness and generosity to other first generation Americans seeking to advance their education and achieve the American dream just like Victoria did. 

Virgil and Retha Shoemaker Multicultural Student Endowed Scholarship 
Established by Virgil and Retha Shoemaker. This fund is to provide financial assistance to under-represented students on campus. Recipient shall be a multicultural student with a GPA of 2.75 or higher.

Wilbert E. Little Memorial Scholarship
Established in honor of Dr. Wilbert E. Little, this scholarship was funded by a generous gift from his family. Provides aid to high school valedictorians. Scholarship may be renewed for up to four years by maintaining a minimum 3.80 GPA.

William C. and Thelma Rhone Undergraduate Scholarship
Established from the estate of William and Thelma Rhone. Scholarship recipient must demonstrate financial need and maintain a GPA of 3.00 or higher.

Berniece Hughes Memorial Scholarship
Established through the estate of Berniece Hughes. Available to students preparing for Christian ministry with a GPA of 3.00 who have completed 30 units at PLNU.

Bertha Raines Memorial Scholarship
Out of a passion for ministry, Robert Raines established this scholarship in memory of Bertha, his wife of 58 years. Bertha's estate provided funds to help young people with financial need who wish to serve God in the area of pastoral ministry.

Brother Charles Panoyan Minister Scholarship Fund
Established to assist Nazarene students enrolled in the School of Theology and Christian Ministry.

Byron L. Crume Endowed Scholarship
Established by Joyce Crume in honor of her husband, Byron L. Crume. Student must be studying for the ministry or business. Applications accepted through Student Financial Services.

Carl E. Hanson Scholarship for Excellence in New Testament Greek
Established from the estate of Katherine Scharf Thompson in accordance with her late husband's wishes. Students must be seniors deemed to have achieved the best mastery of New Testament Greek.

Cecil Raymond and Grace Newman De Lancy Religion Scholarship
Endowed by Warren E. De Lancy in memory of his parents, it provides scholarship assistance to religion majors preparing for the preaching ministry.

Cecil W. Miller Endowed Scholarship
Established by Rick Miller and Joel Miller; initiated by a memorial gift from John R. Jackson. Recipients shall exhibit service to the Lord, the Nazarene Church, and others.

Class of 1951/Dr. W.T. Purkiser Endowed Scholarship
Established by the Class of 1951 to recognize the significant contribution Dr. W.T. Purkiser made to the lives of students as a professor, administrator, and president of Pasadena College/Point Loma College/PLNU. Recipients shall be a junior or senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above, be preparing for a career in full-time Christian ministry, and be positively involved in PLNU's campus life — adhering to the PLNU code of personal conduct by demonstrating consistent Christian character. Awarding Department: School of Theology & Christian Ministry.

Clyde and Louise Rhone Scholarship for Ministry
Established by Paul and Judy (Rhone) Berry in memory of Judy’s mother and father. Recipient shall be a junior or senior studying for the ministry in the Church of the Nazarene. Must have a 3.00 GPA.

Deal and Lois VanDeGrift Family Ministry Scholarship
Established from the estate of Deal and Lois VanDeGrift, this scholarship provides financial aid to students majoring within the School of Theology & Christian Ministry who are intending to go into ministry in the Church of the Nazarene. Recipients shall have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher and have financial need per Student Financial Services. Preference shall be given to graduate students, but undergraduates may be considered.

Dewey and Elizabeth Sykes Memorial Endowed Scholarship
It was the Sykes' desire that Christ be glorified through the availability of this scholarship for PLNU students pursuing Christian ministry. Established with a gift from the proceeds of their trust, this scholarship continues to demonstrate the lessons of faithfulness, tithing, and mutual support of Christ's body that marked the lives of Dewey and Elizabeth Sykes.

Doctors Kenneth and Verna Frey Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established by Dr. Verna Frey in memory of her dear husband, Kenneth, both fervent believers in challenging their sociology students to impact the world through an apparent and gentle love for Christ. The two served PLNU (Pasadena College was Verna's Alma Matre) through their loving teaching — initiating a desire to start a scholarship for future PLNU generations so they can continue their mission to impact secular society with the healing love of Jesus Christ. This scholarship is to be awarded with first preference to sociology/social work majors, secondly to religion majors, and finally to any needy student.

Don and Dottie Windoffer Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established by a memorial gift from Don Duane and Dorothy (Dottie) Virginia Windoffer. This scholarship provides assistance to students who are members of the Church of the Nazarene, are preparing to go into a career in Christian ministry and have financial need as determined by Student Financial Services. Scholarship candidates shall be recommended by the School of Theology & Christian Ministry.

Dr. and Mrs. Kimber Moulton Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established by Dr. Kimber Moulton. Recipient should be a student preparing for full-time ministry in the Church of the Nazarene and serving in the inner city/urban context, exhibit the gifts and lifestyle associated with Christian ministry, and demonstrate financial need.

Dr. (Prof) Clifford S. Fisher and William D. (Pop) Moore Scholarship
Established to support students with demonstrated financial need who are children of Nazarene Pastors or Missionaries. Also extends to students whose parents are ministers in other than Nazarene churches or mission areas.

Elva Pedersen Jorgenson Scholarship Fund
Academic achievement and financial need will be taken into consideration. Students preparing for Christian ministry are to be considered first.

Ewell and Donna Gunter Endowed Scholarship
Established in honor of Ewell and Odie Gunter. This scholarship is for junior and senior students with a GPA of 3.00 or higher who are preparing for full-time ministry. Priority is given to students called to the foreign mission field.

Frank Carver Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was launched by the School of Theology & Christian Ministry to honor Dr. Frank G. Carver for his substantive contribution to PLNU and to provide financial assistance for junior or senior ministerial students.

Galen and Gwen Wilcox Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established to assist students of any major, who are children of missionaries or who are interested in pursuing a career as a missionary. Students must be in good academic standing and must demonstrate financial need.

Gordon and Shirley Schulz Endowed Religion Scholarship
Established by Gordon and Shirley Schulz to do more for His cause in our nation and for the future of the Church of the Nazarene by supporting serious-minded and spiritually sensitive PLNU students. Recipients shall be sophomores, juniors, or seniors preparing for full-time pastoral ministry in the Church of the Nazarene.

Herbert and Betty Prince Philosophy Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to support students who major in Philosophy.

Hilda Buttress Endowed Scholarship
More than 90 years of wonderful memories associated with Pasadena College and PLNU inspired Hilda Buttress to establish this scholarship for students preparing for Christian ministry. Recipients shall demonstrate an interest in Christian missions by serving in PLNU-sponsored student missions programs.

Ismael and Esther Amaya Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established to assist students who plan to serve in Latin America after graduation. A letter of recommendation is required from a local pastor and district superintendent.

James Gabriel Memorial Scholarship
Established by family and friends in memory of James A. Gabriel, who lived and loved life to the fullest. Provides scholarships in the field of Christian ministry and religion.

Jim L. Bond Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to students who have declared Christian ministry as a major. Dr. Bond served as president of the university from 1983 to 1997.

John and Linnea Entner Endowed Scholarship
Established through the estate of John and Linnea Entner, this scholarship provides scholarships for students preparing for Christian ministry. Recipients shall demonstrate an interest in Christian missions by serving in PLNU-sponsored student missions programs.

Keith and Roberta Wiseman Endowed Scholarship
Established by Keith Wiseman in appreciation for the contribution PLNU made in his life as a student and for the joy he and his late wife, Roberta, had serving as resident assistants for seven years. After pastoring in the Church of the Nazarene for 54 years, Keith desires to assist spiritually sensitive students preparing for Christian ministry. Recipients shall be studying to enter full-time Christian ministry and be planning to continue their studies at Nazarene Theological Seminary.

Kilgore Endowed Scholarship
Established through the estate of John Paul Kilgore, this scholarship provides funds for students preparing for full-time ministry within the Church of the Nazarene, with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher and demonstrated financial need.

Lee and Leona Arce Memorial Scholarship
Established by Leona Arce with funds from the Lee Arce Trust. Students must be studying for the ministry and selected through the School of Theology & Christian Ministry.

Awarded to students preparing for Christian ministry or missionary service.

Leonard and Una Mae Goodwin Scholarship
Established through the estate of Leonard and Una Mae Goodwin. Student must be preparing for the ministry.

Los Angeles District Paul Benefiel Memorial Scholarship
It is in the spirit of Pastor Paul Benefiel's life-theme prayer, "May all who come behind us find us faithful," that family, friends, and church members created this scholarship in tribute to Paul's life of faith. Candidates should be continuing students from a Los Angeles District Church of the Nazarene, maintaining at least a B-minus GPA.

Luis and Lupe Aguirre Endowed Scholarship
Provides assistance to those of Hispanic descent who are pursuing pastoral ministry in the Church of the Nazarene.

Marie Amis Missionary Endowed Scholarship
Was established by the estate of Marie N. Amis to assist students preparing to become missionaries.

Martha Rebecca Rodeheaver Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Established by gifts from the family of Martha Rebecca Rodeheaver, provides scholarships for students with a declared major in theology/Christian ministry, art, or sociology.

Assists students preparing for ministry.

Mary Alice Dajko Memorial Religion Scholarship
Mary Dajko was a neighbor of PLNU who left her entire estate to the university. This scholarship is for students pursuing a course of study in Christian ministry and planning to go into full-time Christian service.

McCleskey Family Endowed Scholarship
Mindful of God's extravagant provision in their lives, PLNU alumni Fred and Juliana McCleskey embraced the opportunity to aid Nazarene women pursuing full-time ministry as a career. This scholarship provides funds to cover the costs of attending extracurricular conferences focused on women in ministry for female students pursuing such ministries.

Awarded to students who are called to a preaching ministry or missionary service.

Payton Family Endowed Scholarship
Established for the children of Nazarene pastors who are preparing for full-time ministerial service, especially those planning to attend Nazarene Theological Seminary and pastor in the Church of the Nazarene.

Phillip and Berniece Hughes Memorial Scholarship
Established through the estate of Berniece Hughes, this scholarship is for students preparing for a career in full-time Christian ministry who are theology/Christian ministry, sociology, or speech communications majors.

Phillip Hughes Memorial Scholarship
Established by Berniece Hughes in memory of her husband. It was her dream to help students who are financially incapable of continuing their education without assistance. Recipients must be full-time religion majors with a financial need and a call to preach.

Raegan Summer Pratt Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of Raegan Summer Pratt, Class of 2012, for a junior or senior undergraduate woman who is pursuing a degree in theology and has expressed an enthusiastic desire to pursue a vocation in ministry.

Reuben Welch Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established to honor Reuben and Mary Jo Welch for their commitment to the university. It is awarded to a student who is a junior or senior preparing for full-time ministry in the Church of the Nazarene and is a child of a Nazarene minister.

Reverend Albert and Lonnie Wideman Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by Loren and Barbara Ogden in memory of Reverend Albert and Lonnie Wideman. Provides financial assistance to students whose declared major is in the School of Theology & Christian Ministry, are preparing to go into a career in Christian ministry, are a member of a Wesleyan-based theology church, and have financial need per Student Financial Services.

Rev. Carl D. Klusmann Endowed Ministerial Scholarship
Established by Eugene Klusmann, this scholarship is awarded to students who major in the School of Theology and Christian Ministry and show intent to pursue a career in ministry.  Recipients will have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference will be shown to Nazarene students.

Provides scholarships for junior or senior ministerial students. Consideration is given to academic achievement and financial need.

Established in memory of Roy and Georgia Condren through their estate by their children. The scholarship is awarded to ministerial students.

Rudolph E. and M. Grace Wulfsberg Scholarship Fund
Provides scholarships for junior or senior students entering the ministry.

Ruth E. Kline Missionary Scholarship
Established as a gift from the estate of Ruth E. Kline. This scholarship provides funds for children of missionaries.

Steve Abla Endowment Fund
Established by the Abla family in memory of their son, Steve. Available for senior ministerial students.

The Great Commission Ministerial Scholarship
Awarded annually to enrolled undergraduate students who have declared a major in religion and are preparing for ministry.

Thomas and Charlene Goble Endowed Scholarship
Established in honor of their ministry to the Church of the Nazarene and PLNU, this scholarship provides financial aid to full-time undergraduate students with a declared major in the School of Theology & Christian Ministry who are preparing for vocational ministry. Recipients shall maintain satisfactory scholastic standing. Consideration is given to academic achievement and financial need, as determined by Student Financial Services (SFS). Scholarship candidates shall be recommended by the School of Theology & Christian Ministry. In addition, preference will be given to those prevailing over physical/circumstantial disabilities in the achievement of their goals.

Tim Elliott Christian Ministry Endowed Scholarship
Established by Tim's parents, Darrel and Nora Elliott, to honor his life of service. Tim's first love was ministry to youth. Students must be a Christian Studies major with plans to serve in full-time ministry, they must be an active participant in a Church of the Nazarene congregation, with preference given to students from the Northern California or Central California Districts of the Church of the Nazarene, and they must have demonstrated financial need.
