Art History, minor

Art History, minor

Program Overview

Are you an art major with an innate curiosity about the meanings and purposes of art throughout history and art's impact on culture? Do you love visiting museums and galleries and wondering at the inspiration and process that helped to create the work you admire? If so, then a minor in art history could be the perfect fit for you.

The art history minor at PLNU is designed for students who are looking to incorporate a foundational understanding of art history into their major; who envision working in a museum, gallery, or educational setting; or who simply desire personal enrichment. You will learn to recognize and analyze a wide range of artists, visual art forms, and larger cultural contexts from knowledgeable and accomplished professors who actively showcase their own work in notable art museums and galleries. You will also create your own original, contemporary artwork in studio that illustrates current skills and techniques in selected art media and technologies.
