Emiko is a Senior Political Science major with a minor in Women’s Studies, driven by a passion for social justice and advocating for marginalized communities. Growing up as the child of outreach pastors in an inner-city neighborhood, Emiko developed a deep empathy and commitment to serving others.
At PLNU, she has held leadership roles in the Asian Student Union and the Diversity Leadership Scholars program, focusing on building cross-cultural connections and promoting inclusion. Mentoring first-year students of color has been a highlight of her journey, fostering a sense of belonging and understanding.
As a member of the United Nations Millennium Fellowship, Emiko contributed to a project on the impact of Title 42 immigration policy on asylum seekers in Tijuana, elevating their voices through interviews and presentations. These experiences reinforced her belief in the power of storytelling for advocacy and social change. Emiko is dedicated to using her leadership and creativity to amplify underrepresented voices and inspire positive social impact.
