Reverend Steve Scott earned degrees in biblical studies/theology from PLNU (B.A. 1977; M.A. 1980). He is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene and served in full-time ministry for 45 years, including time as Resident Director of Hendricks Hall, as a senior pastor, and as the Sacramento District Superintendent for the Church of the Nazarene.
As district superintendent, Steve was responsible for the mission vitality of 60 local churches in north central California and northwest Nevada. His responsibilities included serving as chair of the District Advisory Board, chair for Ministerial Studies, Credentials resourcing students in preparation for ordination, and as chair for pastoral search and leadership review procedures. He served on the PLNU Board of Trustees from 1999-2022, including 7 years as board chair.
Steve was deeply involved in PLNU undergraduate student life, serving as Resident Assistant in Hendricks Hall, feature editor for The Point student newspaper, a member of Concert Choir, summer ministries travel group member, youth/college ministry intern at San Diego First Church, and senior class president of the first class to complete their degree on the Point Loma campus.
Steve and his wife Debbie live in Stockton, CA, and have two adult sons who also live in Stockton. They have enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and 11 countries abroad. He enjoys cycling, antiquing, yard work, photography, and their newly rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Jackson. Steve has embraced a life verse to trust God and desire His will in all things (Proverbs 3:5-6).
