Jessica Walton (B.A. 05, M.A. 14)

Jessica Walton is a CalWORKs Counselor at San Diego Continuing Education. She serves mostly refugee students from Haiti. In her role, she advocates for students and advises them on their education and career. Jessica is a first-generation American and college graduate. She earned her Bachelor’s (Communications) and Master’s (Educational Counseling) degrees from PLNU. Her family is from the Dominican Republic. While at PLNU, Jessica received a scholarship to play basketball as well as track and field. She was a two time All-American in basketball and was inducted into the PLNU Hall of Fame for basketball in 2013. She attends Pacific Life Church where she is a children’s ministry volunteer. Jessica is also a run leader in the community. She is Black Girls RUN! Ambassador where she inspires minority women to get active and exercise. Jessica believes that PLNU changed the trajectory of her life. The education and values that she received while at PLNU has opened so many doors for her to be a light in her career and in the community.

What's something you learned at PLNU that you have carried on into your career?
I learned that when I walk with purpose, God always opens doors. I have put my trust in His hands and He revealed my calling and has continued to guide me in my career. He has used me to reached others for many years.
