State Authorization

State authorization is a formal determination that PLNU is approved to conduct educational activities regulated by that state or U.S. Territory. PLNU is not required to obtain state authorization in every state or U.S. Territory, and the university has opted at this time not to seek authorization in certain states and U.S. Territories. Additionally, PLNU meets the criteria for exemption from authorization in certain states. Authorizations in specific states may change periodically.

Point Loma Nazarene University is physically located in the State of California. If you are considering an academic program that leads to Professional Licensure or Certification, it is strongly recommended that you seek guidance from the appropriate licensing agency in your state or U.S. Territory of interest BEFORE enrolling in the academic program at PLNU.

State Notifications

Alaska

PLNU's programs are exempt from authorization under AS 14.48 and 20 AAC 17.015 because the programs are online or distance delivered and do not have a physical presence in the state of Alaska.

Texas

PLNU is not regulated in Texas under chapter 132 of the Texas Education Code.

Virginia

PLNU is certified to operate by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV).
