Cause Scholar Winners Jaden Ballardo and William Freds with Professor Mary Beth McCabe

Fermanian School of Business Students, Jaden Ballardo and William Freds, Named 2024 Cause San Diego Scholars in October 2024.

Ms. Jaden Ballardo won the Social Impact award, is a Senior Marketing major at PLNU. Jaden Ballardo is the current secretary and communications director for the Pacific Beach Town Council, the oldest Town Council in the San Diego area. In this role, Jaden oversees all media communications for the organization, including newsletters, social media, important community press releases, and more. She has been with the organization for three years, and as a fourth-generation resident of Pacific Beach, she prides herself on her work to keep the community informed, united, and aware of changes that may influence Pacific Beach and other coastal communities.

William Freds also won the Social Impact award, is a Senior studying Business Marketing at PLNU. William is part of the Out of the Ordinary team that helps organize specialized events designed for larger companies. These events enhance teamwork and improve overall workplace dynamics, while integrating an element of charitable giving. Part of the organization offers events that are designed to build bicycles for children and donate them to local charities. The charities then distribute the bikes to children around Christmas time. He finds working these events, has given him perspective on large, corporate teams working hard together to build the bikes and give back to the community.

We are thankful to Professor Mary Beth McCabe for informing the FSB students about the opportunity to earn Cause San Diego Scholarships.
