You come to college with a wealth of knowledge and experience you gained in the military. At PLNU, we deeply value what that brings to the classroom. That’s why we strive to collaborate with you in your academic endeavors and help you pursue your current and future goals.

College should be fulfilling, applicable, and meaningful. Here, you’ll receive a purpose-driven education that can help you build something bigger than yourself.

Mission

Point Loma Nazarene University recognizes that our military and veteran population is a very diverse group that brings to our campus vast experiences and knowledge. The mission of PLNU Military Programs and Services is to support and advocate for military-connected students in their transition to Point Loma Nazarene University and their pursuit of intellectual, personal, spiritual, and professional development. We will work continuously to provide a military-inclusive environment so our students can effectively apply their federal education benefits in pursuit of their degree programs and be well-prepared to transition into meaningful careers.

Vision

To be the leading resource for military and VA educational related services for all military-connected students and their families. PLNU’s Military Programs and Services will accomplish this by:

  • Easing the transition from military service to student life.
  • Being proficient in all aspects of military billing to include VA and DOD benefits such as the GI Bill®, VA procedures, and academic advising.
  • Continuously improving processes and services.
  • Partnering with university colleagues to provide the resources necessary for our military-connected students to be academically successful.
  • Raising awareness of veterans’ issues among university and local communities and supporting our military-connected students from the first contact through graduation.
  • Providing internal as well as San Diego community resources for assistance.
  • Creating a space for community and collaboration on campuses through our chapter of the Student Veterans of America.
  • Providing opportunities for recognition in their work study, volunteer, and academic areas that lead to career readiness and placement.

GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
