Shaun Donelson, M.A.

I have taught in the Administration of Justice Department at Grossmont College for the past 32 years. I have taught, Introduction to Administration of Justice, Criminal Evidence, and Criminal Investigations. I retired from the San Diego Police Department after 22 years of service and spent 9 years with the University of California Police Department prior to that. I’ve worked a number of assignments in law enforcement including Patrol, Training Division, Police Administration, Critical Incident Management Unit, and in several investigations units as a Detective. I spent many decades teaching police officers Crowd Control, the Use of Force, and Defensive Tactics (self-defense).

I am currently the Police Academy Coordinator at Southwestern College, where I manage the training program there.

I have a passion for teaching, filmmaking and religious studies. Although I’m no longer a Ninja (age caught up to me), I spent more than 40 years practicing various martial arts and have a black belt in Kung Fu (it helps keep my pants up). I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Point Loma Nazarene University and a Master’s Degree is in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego.
