Sarah Skuster

Adjunct Professor

Sarah Skuster currently holds the position of principal oboist with the San Diego Symphony and has appeared as a featured soloist with the San Diego Symphony on several occasions. Ms. Skuster previously served as interim second oboe with the Dallas Symphony as well as second oboe in the Akron Symphony and has performed as guest principal oboist with the San Francisco Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony and the New Jersey Symphony. She has appeared as a substitute with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. An avid chamber musician, she has performed with the San Diego Symphony Chamber Series, Camarada, Art of Elan, Palimpsest, Renga, San Diego New Music and Luscious Noise.  Ms. Skuster earned a Bachelor of music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of John Mack and attended Mannes College where she studied with Elaine Douvas. She is also a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy where she studied with Dan Stolper.  Ms. Skuster has participated in music festivals of Ojai, Music in the Mountains, (Grass Valley, CA), Festival Mozaic, Tanglewood, Aspen, Marrowstone and Interlochen.  In addition to serving as the adjunct oboe instructor at Point Loma Nazarene University, Ms. Skuster is a Lecturer of Music in oboe San Diego State University, and maintains an active private teaching studio of all ages and ability levels. 

Education

Bachelor of music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of John Mack and attended Mannes College where she studied with Elaine Douvas. She is also a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy where she studied with Dan Stolper.
