I am so very excited to be reentering the realms of higher education after having been on leave raising my two young sons. I have worked in a variety of departments across several institutions including Admissions, Student Affairs, teaching a First Year Seminar course, and most recently conducting academic advising in the Office of Global Studies at PLNU.
My husband, our eldest son, and I moved to San Diego two years ago from London, England where we had lived for over 10 years. During my time living abroad, we travelled around the world and continue to explore our current environs as the willing wanderers that we are. Our transition to southern California has gone very well, and we have easily adapted to the ubiquitous sunshine and an active outdoor lifestyle. However, Europe will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Going back to my roots, I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and ever since I was young, I used writing as an outlet for my emotions and opinions and as a form of expression. Two years ago I was blessed to have my memoir and self-help book published by Changing Lives Press in New York. I believe that to improve upon our writing we must be avid readers and I love discovering new authors and styles of writing, mostly in the historical fiction genre.
I earned my BA and MA in Speech Communication with a focus in Journalism and in Counseling: Student Personnel Services respectively. I also completed a diploma level course and certified as a therapeutic counselor in the UK.
My diverse international background in education has provided me the opportunity to experience that people have distinct ways of learning, and I look forward to working with each student and their individual needs. I am a lifelong leaner and I cannot wait to work with all of you, both in the virtual and physical classrooms.
