Gloria was born and raised in San Diego, CA. She graduated from the Culinary Institute of America, after which she pursued further education, including a Bachelor's degree in Dietetics and Food Administration with a minor in Hospitality Management, a Master's degree in Nutrition Education, a dietetic internship, a School Nutrition Specialist certification, and a certificate in Nutritional Psychology. Her 23 years of professional experience include various positions in foodservice, nutrition, and education. She is employed as a Culinary Dietitian for UC San Diego and as a consultant dietitian, and also serves as the Education Chair for the California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, San Diego executive board. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, studying languages, doing puzzles (word/logic/jigsaw), exploring new places, and, of course, cooking and baking.
