A PLNU Cultural Event: The Blue Rose Trio

The Blue Rose Trio consists of Karl Pasch (principal clarinetist of the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra, Alaska), Rose Chen (piano faculty at Cypress College and the Colburn School), and Lars Hoefs (cello professor at Sao Paulo State University, Campinas, Brazil). Originally formed in 2003 at the University of Southern California in the chamber music class of Peter Marsh, the Blue Rose Trio won prizes at the Music Teachers National Association and Coleman Chamber Music Competitions, as well as touring in France, Israel, China, and Brazil, with frequent residencies in Alaska. Since the founding of the Villa-Lobos International Chamber Music Festival in Southern California in 2015, the Blue Rose Trio has performed often in Encinitas, Carlsbad, Coronado, Riverside, and Los Angeles. In 2023 the trio released the album Brazilian Landscapes, world premiere recordings of new Brazilian chamber music. The album is available on all streaming digital platforms.
