The Last Note: A Concert for Karl Martin

Karl Martin concert image

After nearly 27 years at PLNU, Dr. Karl Martin is declaring retirement at the end of the spring semester.

With years of teaching classes like the History of Rock & Roll, interviewing musicians like Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Richie Furay, and teaching literature like Toni Morrison’s Jazz, it’s no wonder that when Karl reflected on how to best reflect on his time at PLNU, he was led to the songs that served as important pieces of his experience.

So, to celebrate those memories, PLNU's School of Humanities, Arts, and Public Engagement (SHAPE) and PLNU Honors Program are coordinating a concert featuring musical selections by Karl Martin (we’re only including a quarter of his request list) to be performed by musicians who are also PLNU faculty, staff, alumni, students, and friends.

The concert will feature music written by Joni Mitchell, John Prine, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Gillian Welch, and others to be performed by PLNU faculty, alumni, staff, students, and friends including Brenda Martin, George Williamson, Greg Laswell, Dave Adey, Katie Leigh, Ashley Reynolds-Montaño, Derren Raser, and more!

The concert is free to attend, but tickets are required to account for capacity.

Reserve tickets here!
